In 1999, led by a series of losses, toys and monsters became my escape. In 1995, an 8-year relationship with someone I truly loved ended, and in February 1999 I lost my Mom, and my best friend, four days apart. Life was sucking badly. Losing three people that meant so much to me was more than I could handle. So began my search for a way out of the darkness. Finally, I found it...in the things that made me laugh and smile as a little boy. Toys and monsters.
In the spring of 1999 I discovered Ebay and became a happy shopper. It was there that I stumbled upon the Aurora Monster Models I had built as a kid. I started buying models and toys at a rapid rate. So began my journey into a period of life that brought back that feeling of being a kid again. A time when all was safe and secure; warm and happy. I had found my peace again. When I look up and see all the models sitting on my shelves, I don’t see monsters at all. I see a bunch of little angels that helped me heal.
